363 - Investigating the wellbeing and support needs of those affected by non-smoking related lung cancer

What this challenge is about

Lung cancer causes the highest number of cancer-related deaths worldwide. More than 48,500 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK each year. Of those 14% have never smoked (CRUK, 2022) and this proportion is rising. Patients with non-smoking lung cancers experience elevated levels of psychological distress, however, few receive adequate mental health support, and many are unaware of what wellbeing-related support is available (Harrison and Terry, 2023). As quality of life is related to treatment adherence and survival outcomes, it is imperative that we find a scalable way to better support the wellbeing needs of this patient group.
