362 - Free to Bleed: Data-Driven Advocacy and Art for Menstrual Justice
What this challenge is about
Women and people who menstruate struggle to access essential period products. This is increasingly because they cannot afford to do so, especially in a cost of living crisis (period poverty now affects 1 in 5). In addition, period products are not (generally) available in public places, making menstruation an everyday stressor for those who experience it. This has heavily gendered consequences: from the mental load of having to plan for periods, to stress and anxiety, fear of leaking in public and the associated shame, and limitations to participation in sport, school and work. Ultimately, this is part of gender inequity.
