358 - Enhancing ART Adherence in Vulnerable Children in KwaZulu-Natal: Understanding factors affecting caregiver support
What this challenge is about
Adherence to HIV treatment (ART) in the paediatric cohort (< 15 years) is particularly poor in remote areas of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. HIV is the leading cause of death in children < 15 and South Africa remains at the epicentre of the HIV epidemic. This age group relies on their caregivers to support adherence to ART and CHIVA wants to establish what role information and or motivation contribute to poor adherence. The question is: How does a caregiver's lack of information and or motivation impact on poor administration of medication?
